Every App Store screenshot size, checked against Apple's spec: the required iPhone 6.3″ set (1206 × 2622), optional 6.9″, iPad 13″, iPhone Duo, Mac, Apple TV, Vision Pro and Apple Watch.

Checked against Apple's specification on October 29, 2026

or 1179 × 2556 — 6.3″ / 6.1″ Dynamic Island

2064 × 2752
or 2048 × 2732 — 13″
Per size and language

JPEG or PNG, no transparency

Apple asks for screenshots in a small number of required display sizes and scales them down for every other device. Most guides still say the 6.9″ iPhone set is the one you must provide. That's out of date: App Store Connect now lists iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display) — the 6.3″ and 6.1″ phones — as the required iPhone size. 6.9″ is optional.

Required sizes

iPhone 6.3″ / 6.1″ — iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display)1206 × 2622, 1179 × 2556Required. At least one screenshot, for every iPhone app.

Want to look sharp on Pro Max phones too? Upload a 6.9″ set as well. If you don't, App Store Connect scales your 6.5″ screenshots for large phones — or your 6.3″ ones if that's all you have.

Rules that apply to every size

  • 1 to 10 screenshots per display size and per language.
  • JPEG or PNG (.jpeg, .jpg, .png). No alpha channel and no transparency — a PNG exported with transparency is the most common reason for an upload error.
  • Portrait or landscape: every iPhone and iPad size also works rotated (width and height swapped). Mac, Apple TV and Vision Pro are landscape only.
  • Display scaling: if your app looks the same on every device, upload only the highest required resolution and App Store Connect scales it for smaller displays.
  • Screenshots must follow the App Store Review Guidelines and show the app in use.

How many screenshots should you upload?

You can upload up to 10, but most people only see the first three: they're the ones shown in search results. Lead with your strongest benefit, use the next two for the features people choose you for, and keep the rest for detail. Five to eight well-made screenshots beat ten repetitive ones.

Making every size from one design

Designing each size by hand is where most of the time goes. In ScreenShipper you design once and export iPhone 6.9″, 6.5″ and 6.3″, iPad 13″, Android phone and 7″/10″ tablets in one zip, for every language — with no alpha channel, sized exactly as the table above. Add any other size from the table (like iPhone Duo) under Sizes in the editor.

Frequently asked questions

What is the required iPhone screenshot size for the App Store?

App Store Connect requires at least one screenshot for iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display): 1206 × 2622 or 1179 × 2556 pixels in portrait, or the same sizes in landscape. The 6.9″ size (1320 × 2868) is optional.

Do I still need 6.5-inch screenshots?

Only if your app runs on iPhone and you don't provide 6.9″ screenshots. If you upload a 6.9″ set, the 6.5″ set is optional.

Do I need iPad screenshots?

Yes, if your app runs on iPad (including iPhone apps that can run on iPad). Upload at least one 13″ screenshot: 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 pixels.

How many screenshots can I upload to the App Store?

Between 1 and 10 per display size and per language.

Why does App Store Connect say my screenshot dimensions are wrong?

The image isn't exactly one of the accepted sizes for that slot, or it was uploaded to the wrong display slot. Sizes must match to the pixel. Check your files with our free screenshot size checker: it tells you which slot each image fits and whether it has an alpha channel.

Can App Store screenshots be landscape?

Yes. Every iPhone and iPad size is accepted in landscape too, with width and height swapped.
